Shedding the Old, Welcoming the New

A Lunar Eclipse Ritual for Transformation

The seasons are shifting. The energy is changing. And maybe, like me, you’re feeling it.

Two weeks ago, I attended a transformational workshop on becoming a ceremonialist—a dreamy, soul-resetting experience that felt like a turning point. The very next day, I started a new job. Now, under tonight’s full moon and partial lunar eclipse, I can feel the reminder that life is in change mode.

This weekend, the weather teased us with warmth, a taste of spring’s arrival—sunshine, fresh air, that unmistakable sense of something stirring. And then, just as suddenly, the cold returned, pulling us back into winter’s final grip. I’ve been hit with a case of tennis elbow (from over-enthusiastic crocheting, no less!), and it feels like my body is reminding me: ease in, don’t force it.

Nature is showing us this lesson, too. The first blossoms are out—and already, so many are falling, carpeting the ground in pink and white. Not every early bloom lasts long. Not every rush of new energy is meant to be sustained. Patience will be rewarded.

Tonight’s Lunar Eclipse: A Moment to Pause & Shed the Old

Eclipses are cosmic reset buttons—they reveal what’s shifting, what’s no longer needed, and what’s waiting to emerge. This one, falling as winter gives way to spring, is a potent reminder:

🔥 Let go of what you’ve outgrown.
🌱 Welcome in what’s ready to bloom—but don’t rush the process.

If you’re feeling this pull between endings and beginnings, tonight is the perfect moment to pause, reflect, and release what no longer serves you.

Here’s a simple candle ritual you can do tonight to honor this shift.

A Lunar Eclipse Candle Ritual for Shedding & Growth

🌑 What You’ll Need:

  • A candle (white for clarity, black for release, or any color that feels right to you)

  • A small piece of paper and a pen

  • A fireproof dish or bowl

🌕 The Ritual:

  1. Find a quiet moment tonight—whether under the moonlight or in a cozy corner indoors. Light your candle and take a few deep breaths.

  2. On your piece of paper, write down something you’re ready to shed. It could be a mindset, an old habit, an attachment to something that’s no longer aligned with you. Trust what comes up.

  3. Hold the paper in your hands. As you do, reflect on how this has served you in the past—but acknowledge that its time is complete.

  4. Read the words aloud, then safely burn the paper in your fireproof dish, watching the flame consume what’s ready to be released.

  5. Turn your focus to the candlelight. Instead of rushing to fill the space you’ve just cleared, simply sit in the stillness. Let the flame remind you that growth happens in its own time.

  6. When you feel ready, blow out the candle and trust the process.

Moving Forward with Intention

Not every beginning has to be immediate. Not every bloom lasts. The seasons, the moon, and life itself all move in cycles. Trust where you are in yours.

Tonight, as the earth’s shadow passes over the moon, take this as your invitation to pause, release, and embrace change—without needing to force what’s next.

The next chapter is coming. Let it unfold in its own perfect time.
