Self-care isn’t just a bath… but it can be
You’ve probably heard this line floating around wellness spaces:
“Self-care isn’t just taking a bath.”
And okay, sure - self-care is layered. It can mean setting boundaries, saying no, going to therapy, drinking water, and all the gritty, grown-up things.
But let’s not throw the bathwater out with the baby.
Because honestly? A bath is bloody lovely.
After a ceremonialist workshop, I came home with a jar of bath salts—Epsom salt and dried rose petals, stirred together with good intention. I promised myself I’d actually use them (instead of saving them forever like some sort of salty relic).
So I did. And yes, the petals clung to me like damp confetti. Yes, they were everywhere. Yes, the plughose was blocked.
But still - magic.
I sank into the warmth and let the world soften. My shoulders dropped. My breath deepened. I felt like I’d come home to myself.
It was more than just hygiene. It was a reset. A ceremony.
We talk about self-care as though it always needs to be profound. But sometimes it’s just this:
A hot bath. A quiet room. A few minutes to feel good in your own skin.
And that, my friend, is sacred too.
